Palm City
Animal Hospital
Your pet’s health matters, and finding the right Palm City animal hospital shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Indian Street Animal Clinic brings over 17 years of veterinary care expertise to families across the Treasure Coast, combining the precision of modern medicine with the wisdom of traditional healing practices.
Dr. Gary Zinderman, DVM, CVA, leads our close-knit team in delivering services that range from preventative care and routine vaccinations to advanced dental care and dermatology treatments. From energetic puppies needing their first healthy pet exams to senior companions requiring specialized pain management, we’re equipped to guide your pet through every chapter of their life with skill, patience, and genuine affection.
Our Mission
Indian Street Animal Clinic operates on a straightforward principle: every pet deserves veterinary professionals who listen first and prescribe second. Dr. Gary Zinderman built our Palm City animal hospital to challenge the rushed, one-size-fits-all approach that frustrates so many pet owners. We take time during appointments to understand what you’ve observed at home: changes in appetite, energy shifts, behavioral differences.
Our mission centers on transparent communication, offering you clear explanations of diagnostic results and presenting all available treatment paths, from conventional medical and surgical services to acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulations. We’ve woven Eastern and Western medicine together so seamlessly that patients benefit from multiple healing traditions working in concert. This isn’t about adding exotic treatments for marketing appeal; it’s about giving your companion the best statistical chance at recovery and long-term wellness through evidence-based integrative care.

Meet the Doctor
Dr. Gary Zinderman’s path to veterinary medicine started on racetracks rather than in classrooms. He spent nearly a decade as a professional standardbred horse trainer, earning his “A” license by age 22 and developing an intuitive understanding of animal behavior that still informs his diagnostic approach today. That foundation led him to Florida Atlantic University for his Bachelor’s in Biological Science, then to the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned both his DVM and the Dr. Wayne Riser Award for Excellence in Bone and Joint Pathology. Not content with conventional training alone, he pursued certification in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi Institute, adding a powerful dimension to his treatment capabilities.
Beyond his clinical work at our Palm City animal hospital, Dr. Zinderman maintains memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, and Florida Veterinary Medical Association, staying current through his 25-year connection with the Veterinary Information Network. His wife Melissa serves as our Practice Manager, helping orchestrate the seamless patient care that defines our veterinary hospital.

FAQs
What makes your Palm City animal hospital different from emergency clinics?
We provide comprehensive veterinary care for both routine and urgent care needs during business hours, while emergency clinics focus solely on after-hours crises. Our Palm City animal hospital offers continuity with the same veterinary professionals who know your pet’s history, making diagnosis faster and treatment more personalized. Emergency clinics serve an important role, but we handle most urgent medical situations during our Monday-Friday schedule.
How often should my pet visit your veterinary hospital for checkups?
Most adult pets benefit from annual healthy pet exams that include routine examinations and blood and parasite tests for early detection of problems. Senior pets or those with chronic conditions typically need veterinary care every six months to monitor changes. Our Palm City animal hospital tailors preventative care schedules to your pet’s age, breed, and health status rather than following rigid timelines.
What happens during my pet's first visit to your practice?
Dr. Zinderman performs a thorough physical examination checking vital signs, teeth, ears, skin, and overall body condition while discussing your concerns about behavior or symptoms. We may recommend diagnostic care like blood work or parasite screening depending on your pet’s age and history. This initial appointment establishes baseline health data that guides all future veterinary care at our Palm City animal hospital.
Do you treat exotic pets or only dogs and cats?
Our veterinary hospital specializes in canine and feline medicine, where Dr. Zinderman’s expertise in dental care, dermatology, and integrative therapies delivers the best patient outcomes. We don’t provide medical and surgical services for exotic species like birds, reptiles, or pocket pets. We’re happy to recommend qualified veterinary professionals in the Treasure Coast area who specialize in exotic animal care.
Can your Palm City animal hospital handle multiple pets from the same household?
Absolutely! Many families bring multiple pets for routine vaccinations and wellness visits during the same appointment block, which saves you time and helps anxious animals stay calmer together. Our veterinary professionals efficiently manage multi-pet households while giving each animal individual attention during their examination. Scheduling siblings together also helps us identify health patterns that might affect genetically related pets.

Emergency Services
When your beloved pet needs urgent medical attention, we’re here to help during our operating hours. Our Palm City animal hospital offers in-house diagnostic tools like lab work, X-rays, and ultrasound that give us immediate results so treatment can start without delay. At Indian Street Animal Clinic, we treat everything from sudden injuries to critical illnesses with the same level of care we’d provide our own pets.
Before heading to our Stuart clinic, please contact us at 772-781-9990 so our team can prepare for your arrival and ensure a smooth process. We provide emergency services Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with full access to surgical procedures and hospitalization if your pet’s situation requires it. Outside these hours, we direct pet owners to Pet Emergency of Martin County for round-the-clock care and overnight patient monitoring.

Wellness Plans
Preventive care is the foundation of keeping your pet healthy throughout every life stage. We offer comprehensive wellness plans designed specifically for puppies, kittens, adults, and senior pets with tailored coverage including biannual exams, vaccinations, blood work, and parasite screening. Our Palm City animal hospital structures each plan to address the unique health needs your pet faces at different ages.
Each plan includes valuable benefits like unlimited office visits and discounts on dental cleanings or spay/neuter procedures. Senior plans at Indian Street Animal Clinic go even further with thyroid screening, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, and chest and abdominal X-rays reviewed by radiologists. These structured programs ensure your pet receives consistent, thorough preventive care year-round while simplifying your healthcare planning.

In-House Laboratory
Fast, accurate diagnostics make all the difference when your pet isn’t feeling well. Indian Street Animal Clinic performs extensive blood testing, urinalysis, fecal screenings, and pre-anesthetic bloodwork right in our facility instead of sending samples elsewhere. Our Palm City animal hospital delivers same-day results so we can diagnose conditions quickly and begin treatment without delay.
We run comprehensive wellness screenings, chemistry panels for liver and kidney function, pancreatic evaluations, and complete blood counts on-site. Our in-house laboratory also handles viral testing for FeLV and FIV in cats, parvovirus in dogs, and heartworm screening. For specialized testing beyond our capabilities, we collaborate with trusted external laboratories to ensure your pet receives the complete diagnostic care they need.

Dentistry
Maintaining your pet’s dental health prevents more than just tooth decay and gum issues. Left untreated, oral bacteria can travel through the bloodstream and affect vital organs including the heart, liver, and kidneys. Our Palm City animal hospital focuses on early detection through annual dental checkups, identifying problems like tartar accumulation, inflamed gums, and eating difficulties before they escalate into painful conditions requiring extensive intervention.
We deliver thorough dental examinations and professional cleanings designed to eliminate harmful bacteria and preserve your pet’s oral health. Indian Street Animal Clinic addresses common warning signs such as persistent bad breath, swollen gums, and changes in chewing behavior with comprehensive care. Our preventive approach stops dental disease from progressing silently, protecting both your pet’s mouth and their systemic health for the long term.

Surgical Services
Your pet deserves expert surgical care when medical needs arise, whether for routine or complex procedures. We specialize in spaying and neutering for reproductive health, soft tissue operations addressing various conditions, and cryosurgery utilizing extremely cold temperatures for targeted treatment. Our Palm City animal hospital combines advanced techniques with a gentle approach, ensuring each patient experiences minimal stress during their surgical journey.
Safety and comfort guide everything we do, from initial consultations through complete recovery. Indian Street Animal Clinic evaluates each patient’s unique health profile before surgery, adjusting our approach to meet their specific requirements. Our skilled veterinary team maintains vigilant oversight during procedures while providing clear guidance for at-home aftercare, giving pet owners confidence their companion will heal properly and return to normal activities quickly.

Integrative and Holistic Services
Eastern and Western veterinary medicine work together at our practice to unlock your pet’s innate healing potential. We offer acupuncture for restoring energy balance along meridian pathways, therapeutic laser treatments that reduce inflammation and accelerate tissue repair, plus Chinese herbal remedies and nutritional therapy. Our Palm City animal hospital takes a whole-body approach, addressing underlying causes rather than masking symptoms with temporary solutions.
Dr. Zinderman’s specialized training from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine guides our integrative treatment plans. Indian Street Animal Clinic uses these gentle modalities to manage arthritis pain, support post-operative healing, treat neurological and gastrointestinal disorders, and improve musculoskeletal function. Whether through acupuncture’s meridian stimulation or laser therapy’s cellular regeneration benefits, we create personalized care strategies that complement conventional treatments and promote lasting wellness.
