Our Mission
Emergencies expose what veterinary care actually means to a practice. Anyone can schedule wellness care appointments and routine check-ups, but when a family member is fighting for survival, you discover who actually has the skills, equipment, and backbone to handle urgent medical care under pressure. Dr. Gary Zinderman established Indian Street Animal Clinic on the principle that pet parents deserve an emergency vet they can reach quickly and trust completely during stressful moments. We’ve invested in diagnostic tools that deliver answers in minutes rather than days, trained our veterinary team to move efficiently without sacrificing accuracy, and built relationships with surrounding communities so families know exactly where to turn when medical conditions escalate beyond home management.

Meet the Doctor
Dr. Gary Zinderman’s background defies typical veterinary career paths. He spent his twenties driving harness horses professionally, earning his “A” license before most people finished college. That decade on racetracks taught him to spot lameness from subtle gait changes, recognize distress from behavioral shifts, and make quick decisions when things go wrong at speed. His academic foundation came from Florida Atlantic University’s Biological Science program, followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida where he earned the Dr. Wayne Riser Award for Excellence in Bone and Joint Pathology.
Not satisfied with conventional training alone, he pursued certification through the Chi Institute to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, expanding his treatment toolkit for both routine pet care and medical emergency situations. He maintains professional development through the American Veterinary Medical Association and has belonged to the Veterinary Information Network for over two decades, keeping current on evolving emergency vet protocols.

FAQs
How quickly should I respond when I suspect a pet emergency?
Trust your instincts—if something feels seriously wrong, immediate action beats cautious waiting. Signs of emergency requiring urgent medical attention include collapse, seizures, severe bleeding from ears, extreme difficulty breathing, suspected poisoning, or dramatic behavioral changes. Contact our emergency vet immediately at 772-781-9990 so we can prepare for your arrival during these stressful moments.
What information helps speed up emergency vet care when I arrive?
Bring current medications and recent veterinary care records if available. Describe symptom timeline—when changes started and how rapidly they progressed. Note any potential toxin exposure or unusual activities preceding the medical emergency. Having your regular veterinarian’s contact information allows our emergency vet to access complete medical conditions history quickly, helping Dr. Zinderman develop accurate treatment plans.
Does your practice provide both emergency and routine veterinary care?
Yes. Indian Street Animal Clinic functions as your comprehensive veterinary services provider for everything from annual wellness care and routine check-ups through urgent medical care and Preventive & Wellness Care programs. We handle vaccinations, dental procedures, Laser Therapy, and chronic health needs alongside emergency vet services. This means your family member develops an established relationship with our veterinary team before pet emergency situations occur.
What types of conditions qualify as true pet emergency situations?
Life-threatening medical conditions requiring immediate emergency vet care include difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting, uncontrolled bleeding from ears or wounds, seizures lasting over two minutes, suspected poisonous ingestion, unconsciousness, inability to urinate, severe trauma, bloated abdomen, and extreme lethargy. When pet parents notice these signs of emergency in surrounding communities, contacting our emergency consultation line helps determine whether immediate veterinary emergency care is necessary.
What happens after you stabilize my pet emergency condition?
Emergency stabilization begins recovery, not ends it. Dr. Zinderman develops follow-up veterinary care plans addressing underlying medical conditions that triggered the crisis. We schedule necessary monitoring appointments and provide detailed home care instructions. Our preventive care strategies and routine check-ups reduce future emergency risks, transforming frightening pet emergency experiences into opportunities that give pet parents genuine peace of mind.

Getting help starts with one important step: reach out to us at 772-781-9990 the moment you recognize something’s wrong. This early contact allows our staff to guide you through what’s happening and prepare appropriate resources before you walk through our doors. Should your pet need emergency services outside Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, we’ll point you toward trusted 24-hour facilities that seamlessly continue the care your animal requires.

Wellness Plans
Consistency matters when protecting your pet’s long-term health, and our wellness plans deliver exactly that through organized, stage-specific care. Each program bundles examinations, immunizations, laboratory work, and diagnostic screenings into a coordinated approach that evolves as your companion matures. Unlimited office visits mean you can address concerns immediately rather than postponing care until symptoms worsen.
Life stage determines which services your pet receives: puppies and kittens benefit from developmental tracking and vaccination series, while senior animals undergo thyroid evaluation, urinalysis, and radiographic imaging with specialist review. Indian Street Animal Clinic structures these programs to identify subtle changes before they progress into urgent situations. This proactive strategy strengthens your pet’s resilience, significantly reducing the chances you’ll face an emergency vet scenario down the road.

In-House Laboratory
When your pet isn’t feeling well, getting answers quickly helps everyone feel better. Indian Street Animal Clinic runs blood tests, urine checks, and parasite screenings right here in our building instead of mailing samples away. This means we can figure out what’s going on and start helping your companion during the same visit.
Our equipment checks important things like liver and kidney health, counts blood cells, and detects issues like heartworms or infections such as parvovirus in dogs and FeLV/FIV in cats. We also run safety tests before any surgery to make sure your pet is ready. Having our own in-house laboratory means we catch problems early and address them right away, which helps avoid situations where you might need an emergency vet down the road.

Dentistry
Most dogs and cats develop dental disease by age three, yet many pet owners don’t realize their companion is suffering until serious damage occurs. Bad breath, tartar buildup, and swollen gums signal problems beneath the surface where bacteria threaten not just teeth but vital organs like the heart and kidneys. We recommend annual dental evaluations to catch these issues before they progress into painful, costly situations.
Our dentistry services address everything from routine cleanings to advanced periodontal care that removes harmful bacteria and prevents tooth loss. Indian Street Animal Clinic examines your pet’s mouth thoroughly, looking for signs of infection that could spread through the bloodstream and compromise overall health. Regular dental care keeps minor plaque problems from turning into conditions that might eventually need an emergency vet if left untreated and allowed to affect other body systems.

Surgical Services
Indian Street Animal Clinic performs a range of surgical services including cryosurgery, which uses extremely cold temperatures to treat certain conditions. Our team prepares thoroughly for every procedure, ensuring your companion receives proper monitoring before, during, and after surgery.
We understand that bringing your pet in for any surgery can feel stressful, which is why we take time to explain what will happen and answer your questions. Pre-surgical bloodwork helps us confirm your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia, reducing risks and giving you confidence in their care. Quality surgical services performed under controlled conditions help avoid complications that could otherwise require an emergency vet visit later.

Integrative and Holistic Services
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine offers your pet pathways to healing that work alongside conventional treatments rather than replacing them. Indian Street Animal Clinic provides acupuncture to restore energy flow along meridians, addressing issues from arthritis to post-surgical pain through precise needle placement. Dr. Zinderman’s certification from the Chi Institute enables us to incorporate Chinese herbal therapies and food therapy into comprehensive care plans tailored to your companion’s specific needs.
Laser therapy delivers another non-invasive option, using light to stimulate cell regeneration and increase blood circulation in affected areas. Most pets see improvement after just three to five sessions, with effects lasting up to 24 hours as the body releases its own pain-relieving hormones. These integrative and holistic services give you alternatives when managing chronic conditions, potentially reducing how often medications alone must carry the burden and helping prevent situations that might otherwise require an emergency vet intervention.
