Dr. Gary Zinderman, DVM, CVA

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist

Dr. Z finds great satisfaction in his veterinary career and feels it is most rewarding to help pets who cannot help themselves. Sometimes, pets will come into the office with severe medical conditions – with patience, diagnostic testing, and a gentle touch, we can help that pet heal and regain an excellent quality of life.

Path to Becoming A Veterinarian

Dr. Z’s path to veterinary medicine began in Fort Lee, New Jersey, not far from New York City and an hour away from the state’s beautiful horse farms. Dr. Z pursued his goal of becoming a standardbred horse trainer and driver. By the time he was 22 years old, he had become a professional “A” driver and trainer and had a successful stable of racehorses. Working with equine veterinarians regularly, Dr. Z developed a deep respect for the veterinarians’ knowledge and skills.

After almost ten years as a professional driver and trainer, Dr. Z switched careers and became a veterinarian. Moving to Florida, he first earned his bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Z then earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Z was awarded the Dr. Wayne Riser award from the Veterinary Faculty for Excellence in Bone and Joint Pathology.

His Veterinary Philosophy

Dr. Z thrives on the always-changing nature of his work. He has a particular affinity for dentistry, as resolving a pet’s dental problem often gives them immediate relief from discomfort.

Along with conventional veterinary treatments, Dr. Z integrates veterinary acupuncture, Chinese herbal remedies, and nutrition to help his patients.

“Having been trained in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and earning my certification in Veterinary Acupuncture, I have changed the way I approach most of my cases. We are taught in veterinary school to treat symptoms of a disease. The Eastern way of treating disease is to find the root of the problem first, not just treat symptoms. Having trained in both Eastern and Western Veterinary Medicine has proven invaluable when treating chronic disease, and I can see an immediate impact on my patient’s health when we integrate the two”.

Dr. Z believes that integrated medicine benefits pets the most, allowing for comprehensive treatment that approaches their health from every angle. Part of this method includes thorough preventive care, dental health, and nutrition.

Family Life, Kids & Fur-Kids

When Dr. Z leaves the hospital each day, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa. The couple has been married since 1992, and they have two highly accomplished sons. Ben is a Florida State University Graduate enjoying his professional field of finance, and Zac is a UCF graduate studying Law at Nova Southeastern. Whenever possible, Dr. Z relaxes at his home, does yard work, gets in some fishing, or just spends quiet time with his family.

Of course, Dr. Z’s family has also opened their home to a lucky pet: Miley, a domestic shorthair cat they adopted from the local Humane Society shelter.

Dr. Z holds many certifications and is a member of many widely respected veterinary associations, which means he holds himself, his employees, and his practice to very high standards. Some of these associations include:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Amanda is originally from just outside of Chicago and has moved around quite a bit in her lifetime. She has lived in Illinois three times, New Jersey as a child, North Carolina as a teenager, and has been in Florida since 2005.

Path to Becoming A Veterinarian

Dr. Amanda attended North Carolina State University, where she majored in Animal Science and minored in Genetics. She then attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine and a doctorate in veterinary medicine. While in vet school, she attended a 3-week Veterinarians in the Wild course in South Africa, where she was able to work with the transportation, veterinary care, general health care, and conservation of local wildlife, including elephants, lions, antelope, snakes, rhinos, giraffes, and wildebeest.

Immediately after graduating, she relocated to Port Saint Lucie, where she has been working with cats and dogs ever since. She has a passion for internal medicine and dentistry and thoroughly enjoys using all of the diagnostic tools at her disposal to provide the best care for her patients.

Family Life & Fur Kids

In her spare time, she spends time with her husband gardening and at the beach. She has a rescue dog named Ladybug, who is the most spoiled dog alive, as well as two abandoned rescue rabbits. Parsley is a little white bundle of attitude.
